So I went ahead and ordered up a size like all of the other reviews suggested, and thank goodness I did! However, no one mentioned that they did not make these for people who have a butt! Lol. They fit perfectly at the waist, but because of my behind it didn't leave much room in the front of the pant. Whenever I took a step or sat down the front of the short would pull against my leg, leaving a less than desirable cupcake affect on my thigh. The material felt wonderful and I'm sure they would have been great for hiking... however if you have a curvier figure these shorts probably are not the ones for you. I unfortunately am sending my back and will continue my search for comfortable hiking shorts.
