The good - . I am 5 foot 2 and a very healthy weight and the small fit fine. The chamois was very comfortable and just the right amount. The not so good - I am 5 foot 2 and I wish the leg length was just a bit more. Seriously I am SHORT and for me to say maybe an inch or an inch and a half more would have been great. Also, the are slippery! (I can't express this enough) These will be fine for spin or road biking. But I like to mountain bike in lycra..and when I used these this week they were so slippery I literally did a nice endo right over my handlebars because I was NOT expecting my thighs to slip with my seat. I have 2 other pairs of lycra (neither PU brand) and that's never happened. And the strap in the back to use the bathroom...yeah well silly. Just not practical. And so I hope he clasps that are back there are going to last.I'm not thrilled but I used them and I can't send them back. Will be fine for limited use.I'll start with the Pros - very good fit. Bib straps don't pull too much and seems to provide the right amount of compression. Very comfortable. Have only ridden about 30 miles in these so far but chamois seems solid without being too bulky that it creates other friction issues. Very minor downside but the fabric seems to show sweat more than other shorts I have. In terms of the "drop tail" aspect - I was able to get this to work while inside with A/C and without a jersey on but it required a good amount of effort. If sweaty in a sweltering port-a-john I would definitely just take the jersey off and do this the old fashioned way as opposed to messing with the hooks.I own numerous pairs of shorts that I wear while cycling. None of them are very comfortable. I just received these bibs today, and took them out on a 20 mile ride. I will most definitely be buying another pair in the next couple of days. First, the price can't be beat. They retail at $165. Second, there are no weird seams in them, they don't ride up or rub your parts while riding. This is the first pair of bibs I've owned and I'm stoked about the fact my midsection isn't being squeezed to death. There is also an "escape" on the back of the bibs to make it easier to use the restroom. The escape is just a hook and eye, like a bra, so you can easily unhook with one hand. I can't imagine wearing anything else while cycling again. These are amazingly comfortable.Best decision ever switching to bibs. Very comfortable wearing these. Never noticed them during rides, and the grippers didn’t leave marks in my skin. Only thing is the straps are very soft so they don’t hold up the pants much.Great shorts! The clasp in the back needs to be much farther down on the back in order to reach well. Luckily I'm flexibleGreat material, elastic at legs are great but not bulky. Perfect fit, true to size. These bibs are fine in many ways, although they do have a slightly smaller fit than other Pearl Izumi cycling shorts I've owned. What I don't get is the "easy to access" closure that allows you to drop the tail. I am plenty limber, but you must have to be a contortionist to be able to undo and redo the hooks and eyes that are between your shoulder blades. Maybe there's a trick to it, but I haven't figured it out.The fit and quality are typical Pear Izumi. I bought these because a drop tail is a wonderful feature for long days in the saddle, where bathroom breaks could well be in a portajohn or in the woods. Unlike other brands which have an easy open, easy close clasp, these have cheap bra style hook closures, set high on the back. Virtually impossible to use without stripping down and taking your jersey off. So caveat emptor! If you like Pearl bibs and don't mind stripping off to go to the bathroom, they'll be fine. if you're buying them because of the drop tail feature though, consider other brands.
