Very light padding but has worked well on the shorter rides I've done so far (sub 20 miles). It's not very clear in the picture, but there's a narrow band of elastic around each leg. If you're already a super fit triathlete, this may not cause any issues, but I find it does cut into any thigh fat you may have. It's passable for me, but just be careful!
