The pros on these-the outer short is a trim enough fit with enough stretch not to catch on my seat as I move around. The inner short has the nicest padding I've found in a trial shortThe mesh and open weave panels keep me cool in the heatthe stitching and finishing on these are impressiveTHe smooth finishing prevents chafing, I didn't even need chamois cream for a 35 mile ride in the heat. The pockets are huge that is a pro and a conTHe medium short fits well with no pinching from the inner gripper/elastic but the out short is really long and the very bottom gapes open catching the breeze, perhaps due to the silky ribbon trim along the hem.I usually wear small or med in pearl Izumi and garneaux shorts I think everything is right with the fit except the longth. The quality is so good I will hem these to the proper length and get a second pair.I was kinda in between sizes, so I went with the bigger size because a few reviews said they run small. I found them to be way too big, so I gave them to my girlfriend. She has worn them on a couple rides so far and likes them.As someone who think the spandex should be a controlled substance (mostly because I can't avoid looking like an overstuffed sausage when wearing it) I was looking for a different style of bike short. I am usually a size 10 and ordered a Large- The fit is good and I like the length and width of the legs, Able to move in it and they still look good when off the bike. Liner pads comfortable on short ride (15 miles) so far but haven't tried a longer ride in them yet.The shorts arrived exactly as pictured (four pockets on legs, horizontal reflective markings on leg pocket flap), but when I looked at the Gore tag, they are clearly identified as MALE shorts (circle with arrow pointing to 2 o'clock on the tag).I also confirmed on the Gore site that the women's version looks different (zippered pocket on leg, reflective markings vertically down outside of leg). Personally the difference in appearance doesn't matter to me, but since these have the padded insert, the intended gender makes a difference because the padding and seaming is different between men and women's versions. If you want the actual women's version, search amazon for the Gore Countdown 2.0 Lady shorts. I called amazon and told them about this, but don't know if they will fix this listing.I really did. They were too big (which may be my fault), sort of baggy, and seemed like men's shorts - cut really long and didn't seem good for biking. More like a man's swimsuit. I liked the color/fabric but returned them.I purchased a Medium and they are surprisingly roomy (almost baggy) but not too big. I've purchased other shorts from Gore and Mediums normally are semi-fit on me.I like the quality, the number of pockets and the option to use a belt. Also comes with removable chamois liner shorts. These are perfect for casual riding or mountain biking but it's too roomy for road cycling.I bought them in black. They are well made. Love the mesh of the inner lining, lots of pockets, loose leg fit. They're not particularly feminine, but they're perfect for riding -- really comfortable. I like the longer inseam. Would buy them again...exactly what I was looking for! These shorts are very manly...
